Agua Amarga is a Spanish town and hamlet belonging to the municipality of Níjar, in the province of Almería, Spain. The locality is characterised by its welcoming beaches and by the complex of white houses that make it up. Some of the most famous beaches of Agua Amarga are: Cala de Enmedio, Agua Amarga, Corral, Torre Vieja, Martinicas and Lacón. But Agua Amarga is more than just a beach. The Cargadero Mineral de Agua Amarga is the end point of the railway line from Lucainena de las Torres to Agua Amarga. This place, protected from the easterly winds, was chosen to load the iron extracted in the mines of Lucainena onto the ships that were to transport it to the blast furnaces of the mining companies.
